"Tips for choosing a horse"

Here are some insights about all important aspects of
choosing a horse.

When it comes to selecting the right horse, you first need to ask yourself some key questions:

After you have answered these questions to yourself, you will feel much more confident about choosing a horse for yourself.

You most likely selected your house, your spouse, your vehicle or your dog with care too. Look at choosing a horse with the same intention.

There are millions of horses for sale, to lease and ride, but most of them will not fit your needs, desires or goals. You have to find a way to sort through horses that are available and find the perfect match.

The main reasons that so many horses come up for sale are:

  • The horse is not a good match for the current owner.
  • The owner can (no longer) afford the upkeep.
  • The owner doesn't have enough time to spend with the horse.

Let me help you to avoid making similar mistakes.

We horsewomen, tend to fall in love with the first pretty horse we come across, and get the feeling of 'gotta have it'. Although that "love at first sight" is a good sign, when it comes to horses, impulse buying should really be avoided at all times. Just leave that for when you are buying a new fashion purse at the shopping mall!

With a little patience and preparation, following my guidelines you will be many steps closer in choosing a horse of your dreams. Will it be a perfect horse? Maybe not. A little flaw doesn't have to become a big issue.

Hey, maybe Tom Cruise doesn't put the toilet seat down or put the screw top back on the tooth paste.....Well, I guess I could live with that.

No matter if you are a novice or experienced horse woman, it is my suggestion to click through all the above links, to find valuable tips and pick up some clever ideas!

Obviously, there's a lot to take into consideration when choosing a horse. It's far more complicated then selecting any other pet. I just want you to be aware of certain scenarios, so you are off to a good start. It sets you up for success, rather than disappointment or failure. You will be able to reach your goals and expectations when you are choosing a horse that fits you like a glove.

Many horsewomen just forget to make a clear list of the things they want, before they start looking to buy or lease a horse. They may get sidetracked when they see a 'red Ferrari' (and it's a SUPER DEAL too!). We just forget that it doesn't fit a bale of hay in the trunk or fit 4 kids on the backseat. But hey, it sure looks good sitting in the garage! (And you still have to wash it and do oil changes, remember?)

Many horses end up being under used sitting in a pasture, just like the red Ferrari; And, it's okay, to just have a horse to have it,as long as it fits your expectations.

Remember, we aren't 100% perfect, horses aren't either. Some things you can live with, and some you can't. If my fancy red Ferrari fits the bill, but has a little scratch that's okay. But if the engine is broke...I can't live with that!

Overwhelmed? Well, all I can say is, when selecting a horse, be well prepared, take your time searching and be true to yourself. Only compromise on areas of the least importance. Result? You will be on the road to success with your new horse!
